Fiachra Kearney MSc, GDAppSc.

Fiachra founded the Bridled Nailtail Wallaby Trust in 2007. He is a Conservation Biologist with a particular interest in threatened species management, population ecology and protected area management. Fiachra works in Australia and east Africa on a range of  wildlife conservation projects.

Geoff Jones

Geoff is the President of the Sporting Shooters’ Association Australia (Qld) and has maintained a long and active interest in conservation. Geoff brings the considerable resources of his large organisation, a body with over 100 000 members from all walks of life.

Dr Ryan McAllister BEcon (hons), PhD.

Ryan is a systems scientist with a strong background in integrating society and ecology. His research has focused on the aspects of social processes in arid and semi-arid landscapes that form around key ecology processes. Ryan works for CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems.

Dr Liana Joseph BSc (Hons), PhD.

Liana is a Conservation Biologist with The Ecology Centre, University of Queensland, Australia and the Department of Conservation (DoC), New Zealand. The focus of her research is on optimal decision making for conservation of biodiversity.  Specifically, she is interested in the science behind making cost-efficient decisions to maximize conservation benefits.  Currently, she is working with the Department of Conservation, New Zealand, and Natural Resource Management Catchment Management Authorities, Australia and WWF Australia to develop frameworks for prioritising management actions for the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems.

Associate Professor Anne Goldizen

Anne is based at the University of Queensland and, together with her postgraduate students, carries out research on the ecology and conservation of a range of birds and mammals. She and her students have studied the Bridled Nailtail wallaby for about eight years.

Dr Dominique Sigg

Dominique is an ecologist now living in Canada. Originally from Australia, Dom spent several years studying the genetic health and ecology of the wallaby populations

Janelle Lowry

Janelle is the conservation officer for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and leads the Government’s conservation program for the wallaby. Janelle also sits on the management panel as her involvement covers all aspects of the species recovery.

Emeritus Professor Peter Jarman

Peter taught wildlife science and management at the University of New England from 1974 to 2003. He has a particular research interest in the ecology, behaviour and management of macropods. He supervised the first intensive Masters study of Bridled Nailtail wallabies at Taunton/Redhill (by Murray Evans) and was a panel member for both the reviews of the national recovery program for the species.

Neil MacLeod

Neil is a resource economist with a long research career in rangeland environments, exploring landscape resource conservation and grazing management issues in Australia and overseas. Neil works for CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems

Janelle Lowry

Hugo Spooner

Hugo is the owner and manager of Avocet property and Nature Reserve, one of the two release sites for the Flashjack wallaby. Hugo has had a long and in-depth association with the species and the Brigalow ecosystem.

Mark Woods

Mark is the State Coordinator of Hunting and Conservation Queensland, the group primarily responsible for feral animal control on Avocet. Mark is an ex-professional hunter/trapper with extensive experience in feral animal management.

Lee Curtis

Lee is the author of the Green Guide to Kangaroos, as well as numerous articles on the conservation of Australia's biodiversity. Lee is the Northern Correspondant for Wildlife Australia Magazine and assists the Trust with building our networks, fund raising and awareness raising.

Veterinary Care:

Nicola Spooner

Nicloa is a practising vet in Emerald, and lives on-site at Avocet. She will be undertaking the necessary health care of the wild and translocated Flashjacks at Avocet reserve.
